LoRa-MESH Smart Street Light Solution

The Gebosun® LoRa-MESH Smart Lighting Solution represents the next generation of wireless urban infrastructure. Unlike traditional point-to-point wireless systems, our LoRa-MESH technology allows every street light to act as a signal repeater. This creates a resilient, self-organizing network where data"hops"from one light to another to reach the Centralized Controller (RTU). It is the ideal solution for complex urban terrains where direct line-of-sight might be obstructed.

Key Advantages: Why Mesh?

Self-Healing Network: If a specific street light controller fails or a signal path is blocked by a new building, the Mesh network automatically reroutes the data through other nearby lights. This guarantees unmatched communication reliability and eliminates"dead zones."
Extended Coverage: While a single node has a limited range, the multi-hop capability allows the network to cover vast distances—perfect for sprawling cities and long highways without needing thousands of gateways.
Low Operational Cost: The system utilizes free ISM frequency bands (e.g., 433/470/868/915 MHz) for local communication between lights, avoiding the high monthly data fees associated with cellular-per-light solutions.

System Composition

Centralized Controller (RTU): The gateway that connects the local LoRa network to the Gebosun Cloud (SCCS) via 4G/Ethernet. One RTU can manage hundreds of lights.
Single Lamp Controller: Installed on each fixture. It executes commands (On/Off/Dim) and reports status. Features standardized interfaces for easy connection to LED drivers.
Gebosun SCCS Platform: A centralized cloud platform to visualize the entire lighting grid, schedule tasks, and analyze energy data for public safety and security improvements.

Ideal For:
Smart City: Scalable deployment from a few streets to entire districts.
Residential Communities: Reliable wireless control without digging trenches for control cables.
Campuses & Parks: Flexible lighting management for pedestrian safety.

FAQs About LoRa-MESH Smart Street Lighting

How does LoRa-MESH differ from standard LoRaWAN?
LoRaWAN typically uses a"Star"topology where every device must speak directly to a gateway. If a device is too far or blocked, it loses connection. LoRa-MESH allows devices to talk to each other (Peer-to-Peer). This extends the range significantly and improves reliability in obstacle-rich environments like cities.
Do I need a SIM card for every street light?
No. You only need one SIM card (or internet connection) for the Centralized Controller (RTU). The individual street lights communicate with the RTU using the free LoRa radio frequency. This saves massive amounts of money on monthly data subscriptions.
What happens if the RTU (Centralized Controller) goes offline?
The system is"Edge-Intelligent."The street light controllers have internal memory and clocks. Even if the RTU loses internet connection, the lights will continue to operate according to the last saved schedule (e.g., turning on at sunset), ensuring public safety is never compromised.
Can this system work with solar street lights?
Yes, absolutely. We have a specialized version of this solution for solar lights. The LoRa controller can be integrated into the MPPT charge controller to monitor battery levels and solar generation remotely. (Please see our Solar LoRa Solution page for details).
Is the LoRa signal harmful or prone to interference?
LoRa uses very low power for transmission, making it safe and energy-efficient. It utilizes"Chirp Spread Spectrum"(CSS) modulation, which makes it extremely resistant to interference and noise, ensuring stable communication even in busy urban environments.
